Situated in the growing regional hub of Queenstown, The Rep, which was established in 1859, is one of the oldest community newspapers in South Africa. The town is home to a rich variety of cultures residing within a historical area. It is a centre of education and offers quality health care provided by three hospitals and various clinics. The town boasts some of the top schools in South Africa, an airfield and a developing industrial and business zone.
The Rep serves as a vehicle to convey community news to the people of Queenstown and outlying areas, including Cathcart, Sterkstroom, Cofimvaba, Lady Frere, Tarkastad, Ilinge, Molteno, Stutterheim, Dordrecht, Whittlesea and villages in between. It is also sold in retail stores in East London where it is eagerly awaited every Friday by former Queenstown residents who have retired to the city. The weekly newspaper contains a variety of news, from hard news items to positive stories, highlighting the achievements of schools, community members, the business community and the various spheres of government within the vibrant communities it serves.
It brings together the reader and advertiser in a mutually beneficial relationship and offers businesspeople the opportunity to market and promote their concerns. The Rep is also available on Facebook.
